About the Congress

One field, seen from four directions

Vision science has always been bigger than eye care. WVSC brings together the people who study how we see — clinically, computationally, and behaviourally — under one roof, for the first time in this format.

Optometry & Ophthalmology

Clinical practice, diagnostics, and treatment innovation at the front line of eye care.

Visual Neuroscience & Psychophysics

The neural machinery behind sight, and the science of measuring perception itself.

Psychology & Behavioural Vision

How seeing shapes behaviour, attention, and decision-making — the human side of vision science.

Myopia & Advanced Technology

Clinical and technological progress on the fastest-growing vision concern in the world.

2027 Spotlight

Myopia, seen from
every angle

The Congress itself is interdisciplinary by design — but every edition of WVSC will carry one focus the whole community can rally around. For 2027, that focus is myopia: one of the fastest-growing vision concerns in the world, and a genuine test case for interdisciplinary work.

Across the programme, expect myopia to surface from more than one direction — clinical management sitting alongside the neuroscience of refractive development, the psychophysics of visual measurement, and the technology now being used to track and treat it.

Myopia is this year's focus, not the sole theme — the full congress spans all four pillars throughout.
